For The Cake

  • 1 box chocolate cake mix
  • 3 tbsp milk
  • 1/4 cup canola or vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs

For Filling And Decorating

  • 2 sticks butter, softened
  • 4 cups confectioners’ sugar
  • 5-7 tbsp milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla
  • Black decorating frosting
  • 2 four ounce orange fondant

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.

  2. To make the cake, in a large bowl, mix together cake mix, milk, oil and eggs.

  3. Roll the cake mix into balls, approximately 2 inches in size and place on your lined baking sheet, at least 1 inch apart from each other. Bake for 10 minutes and allow to cool completely.

  4. For the buttercream, beat butter, confectioners’ sugar, milk and vanilla on medium speed. Gradually increase to high. The buttercream is complete once the ingredients are smooth and well-combined

  5. Use one bowl of buttercream as the filling of your Whoopie pies. Use an offset spatula to spread buttercream on the backside of one cake and then sandwich it with another.

  6. Scoop the remainder of your buttercream in a piping bag and frost the top of each Whoopie pie, filling it out completely.

  7. Shape your orange fondant into long, triangular shapes. These will be your snowmen’s “carrot” nose. Place in the center of each frosted whoopie pie.

  8. With your black decorating frosting, frost out some eyes and a smile.
