Star Shaped Mini Cherry Hand Pies

These Star Shaped Mini Cherry Hand Pies are so easy to make and are a festive dessert to serve for the Fourth of July or Christmas.

  • 14 ounce box premade pie crust dough
  • 21 ounce can cherry pie filling
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp water
  • sugar for sprinkling


  • Preheat oven to 425. 
  • Using a 4 inch star cookie cutter, cut out 6 stars from each pie crust.
  • Spoon about 2 tablespoons of filling onto half of the stars keeping the filling in the center.
  • Using water and your fingertips, wet the edges of the stars with the filling.
  • Carefully cover with the other half of the dough stars, pinching the edges together and crimping it shut with a fork.
  • In a small bowl, beat together the egg and one tablespoon of water.
  • Using a brush or your fingers, lightly coat the top of each pie with the egg mixture.
  • Sprinkle with sugar and bake on parchment-lined baking sheet for 12-15 minutes.
  • Allow the hand pies to cool for 10 minutes before serving.
