Cook and brown the ground beef over medium-high heat. Halfway through, add the diced onion and cook until the onion is softened and the ground beef is cooked all the way through. Add garlic and cook another 60 seconds.
Turn the heat down to medium, and add the salt, marinara, basil, and chicken broth and stir to combine.
Then, add the lasagna noodles, stirring them into the sauce.
Cover the skillet and bring to a simmer. Simmer until noodles are just al dente - about 20 minutes. The cooking doesn’t end here, so you don’t want to overcook them.
While the noodles are simmering, combine the ricotta, parmesan, egg, and pepper in a bowl, stirring well.
When the noodles are done, uncover the skillet and dot the top with spoonfuls of the ricotta mixture. Press it under a bit to spread it throughout the lasagna.
Sprinkle with mozzarella cheese and broil for about 5 minutes until the cheese is bubbly and beginning to brown. Watch it carefully, as the broiler can be sneaky.
Please remove from broiler and garnish with additional basil and parsley if you'd like.
