Instructions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Coat two donut baking pans with non-stick spray.
Whisk together the egg and oil in a medium sized bowl.
Next mix in the buttermilk and vanilla.
Then add in the flour, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, baking powder and salt. Mix everything together just until combined. Don't overmix.
Spoon the batter into the donut wells in the pan. (The batter will be thin.) Fill the wells about ¾ of the way full.
Bake for 10-12 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
Make the cinnamon sugar mixture while the donuts are baking.
In a small bowl mix together the sugar and cinnamon for the coating and set aside until the donuts are done.
Once donuts are done remove from the oven and transfer to wire rack. Cool donuts for 10 minutes before topping.
Brush melted butter over top of donuts, then dunk each one in the cinnamon sugar mixture coating. Be sure to coat all sides.
Donuts are best served while warm.
Notes
Push a toothpick along the edge of a donut for easy removal from pan.
