- 1½ cups frozen blueberries
- 1½-2 cups sugar, divided
- 6½ cups water, divided
- 1 cup fresh lemon juice (about 4-5 lemons)
- ice to chill
In a medium saucepan, combine blueberries, 1/2 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of water. On high heat, warm the mixture until the sugar dissolves and the blueberries are soft/mushy.
Remove from the heat. Using a potato masher or a fork, mash up the blueberries, to get extra juice.
Strain the mixture through a mesh sieve over a two-quart pitcher, removing as much liquid as possible.
Add in lemon juice and the remaining 1 cup -1 1/2 of sugar (to taste).
Pour the remaining 6 cups of water and stir until the sugar has dissolved.
Pour lemonade over a glass of ice and enjoy!
Fresh blueberries can be used instead of frozen. If you're using fresh blueberries instead of frozen, add an extra minute or two of cooking time to help them break down completely
Store in an airtight pitcher in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
