Ingredients

  • 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, grated

Sauce

  • 2 Tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 2 Tablespoons ketchup
  • 2 teaspoons sweet relish (or dill relish)
  • 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard

Topping

  • 1 Tablespoon salted butter
  • Sesame seeds (optional)

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half and place on a baking sheet, set aside.
  • Over medium high heat, cook the ground beef in a frying pan until no longer pink. Drain and set aside.
  • Ina small bowl, combine the mayo, ketchup, relish, and Dijon mustard. Spread evenly on the bottom half of the Hawaiian rolls. Add the cooked ground beef on top, followed by a layer of cheese.
  • Place the tops of the Hawaiian rolls on top and brush the melted butter on top using a pastry brush. Sprinkle sesame seeds on top and cover with foil. Bake for 15 minutes.
  • Remove foil and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and the tops are golden brown and crispy. Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly before serving. Serve warm.

Notes

You can add all your favorite toppings, like lettuce, tomato slices, and onions, before serving.
Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
Freeze: Store in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 months. Reheat in the oven at 350 for about 20 minutes (without thawing). They come out seriously delicious! The tops and bottoms tend to be a little crispier (which I love), and they are as fresh as day one.
