One thing I really love about this recipe is that it uses simple basic ingredients that I usually keep in my pantry. So I can whip up a batch of these dessert bars anytime the craving hits.

Substitutions And Variations

  • These bars can also be made with nut butter or sunflower butter instead of peanut butter.
  • To double the peanut butter flavor leave out the chocolate chips and add peanut butter chips instead.
  • Raisins make a great addition in these bars and add more flavor.
  • You can use Nutella instead of peanut butter. Kids love Nutella so it's the perfect substitution.
  • For a little crunch add in some pecans or walnuts. My husband always loves nuts in dessert bars.
  • Use creamy or crunchy peanut butter in the recipe. Either one will work.
