Ingredient Notes
See the printable recipe card below for all ingredients, specific measurements, and complete instructions.

- Flour - You will need all-purpose flour.
- Oats - Rolled oats are what you will need for this recipe. The oats will add tons of flavor and heartiness.
- Yeast - Active dry yeast is what I used. Make sure to activate the yeast.
- Honey - Honey is what I used to sweeten the bread. It adds a nice sweetness without being overtaken.
- Milk - You will want to warm your milk up to about 110 degrees. Just make sure it isn't too hot or it will kill the yeast.
- Salt - Enhances all the flavors.
How To make Honey Oat Bread

Dry ingredients: Add your dry ingredients, flour, oats, yeast, and salt, into a stand mixer bowl and stir to combine.

Wet Ingredients: Add in the honey and milk and stir to combine. I let the mixture sit for a few minutes for the oats to soak up the liquid and allow the yeast to be active.
Knead: You will knead the dough for around 7 minutes until the dough forms a ball. I used a stand mixer.

Let it Rise: Cover the dough with a towel and let it rise till it doubles in size.

Knead and Form Loaf: Knead the dough down and form it into a loaf and place it in greased pan. Top with additional oats.
Rise and Bake: Cover the dough and let it rise again till it doubles in size. Preheat the oven and bake as directed.

How To Store Bread
The bread can be stored at room temperature in a sealed container. It is important to let the bread cool completely before you place it in a storage container. Otherwise, condensation can develop and spoil the bread.
Recipe Tips
- Allowing the oats to soak in the liquid is going to allow the right texture. Don't skip letting it sit to absorb the liquid.
- Make sure to oil the bowl where you place the dough to rise. It will ensure the dough does not stick to the bowl.
- Make sure the bread bakes all the way through, and then allow it to cool on a cooling rack.
- Bread flour can be used in place of all-purpose flour.
- You can sweeten the bread with sugar if you don't have honey.
- Follow your stand mixer instructions for using the dough hook. My stand mixer says speed 2 is the only speed that should be used with a dough hook.

Honey Oat Bread Recipe
Ingredients
- 2½ cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 teaspoon salt
- ¼ cup honey
- 1 cup milk (warm to 110º)
Instructions
- Combine flour, oats, yeast, and salt in a stand mixer bowl.
- Add in the honey and milk and stir to combine. The mixture may be a little wet, so give the oats 5 minutes to absorb the liquid and allow the yeast to activate before you add more flour. If the dough is still too wet to knead after 5 minutes, add a sprinkle of flour until you get the right consistency. The dough should be slightly tacky. Once ready, add the dough hook and knead the dough (or knead by hand).
- Knead dough for about 7 minutes.
- Form the dough into a ball and brush or spray with a little oil.
- Cover with a dry kitchen towel and let rise until it doubles (usually takes 45-60 minutes).
- Gently deflate the dough with your fist, then shape it into a loaf.
- Roll the dough in additional rolled oats.
- Place in a greased 9x5 inch loaf pan.
- Cover with a dry kitchen towel, and let it rise again until it doubles about 45 minutes.
- When the dough has risen, preheat oven to 350ºF.
- Bake bread in the center of the oven for 25 minutes, until golden brown and cooked through.
- Remove from oven and allow to cool on a wire rack.
- Slice and enjoy!
