Skillet Sugar Cookie With Frosting And Sprinkles

Baking sugar cookies in a skillet takes it to a whole new level of goodness. A little crispy on the edges and soft on the inside.

This would be great to make as an alternative to a birthday cake. You can change it up by decorating with different color frosting and sprinkles.

You can also make it for holidays such as Fourth of July by using red, white and blue frosting or Christmas using red and green frosting. So many options to use with this skillet sugar cookie recipe.

Baking Tips For Skillet Cookie

Make sure you bring the butter to room temperature to soften it before using. This allows for easier creaming with the sugar.

When measuring flour you should spoon it into a dry measuring cup and level off the excess with the smooth edge of butter knife for more accurate measurement.

Watch the bake time closely because you don't want to overbake it. The edges should be golden brown.

How To Make Skillet Sugar Cookie

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

Grease the bottom and sides of an iron skillet and set aside.

In a small bowl whisk together the dry ingredients - flour, baking powder, baking soda and cornstarch. Set aside.

Using a mixer beat the butter until creamy then add in the sugar and beat until light and fluffy. Usually about 2 minutes.

Add the egg, egg yolk and vanilla to the sugar and butter mixture and combine fully.

Next add in half of the flour mixture and stir then add in the remaining half of the flour mixture and continue stirring until incorporated. Fold in the sprinkles.

Spread the cookie dough into the prepared skillet and press it into an even layer and smooth the top with a rubber spatula. Add more sprinkles if you want!
