Ways To Serve BBQ Pulled Pork
One thing I love about BBQ Pulled Pork is that it's so versatile.
- You can make sliders with it.
- Serve it on baked potatoes or baked sweet potatoes.
- Make pulled pork nachos.
- Serve on your favorite buns with slaw and pickles.
All of these are easy and delicious options!
Can I Use A Slow Cooker Instead Of The Instant Pot?
Absolutely! You can slow cook the pork in a slow cooker for 7 to 8 hours on low for a delicious tender, juicy pork.
Do I Have To Brown the Pork First?
You don't have to but you can if you have time. Just choose the Saute function to preheat the Instant Pot.
Once hot add 1 to 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil and brown the pork for about 3 minutes per side. Remove pork to platter.
Then use a small amount of beef broth and deglaze the bottom of your pot so you don't get a “burn” warning during cooking. Use a wooden spoon to scrape it. You can also brown it in a pan on the stove first if you prefer.
Pork Cooking Tip
Check Pork with a meat thermometer to ensure doneness. A thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the meat should read a minimum internal temperature of 145°F and allowed to rest for at least 3 minutes per the guidance of the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).
Instant Pot BBQ Pulled Pork Ingredients
3 pounds pork butt, cut into 4 inch chunks
2 tablespoons BBQ seasoning
2 cups BBQ sauce, divided
2/3 cup beef broth
1/3 cup apple cider vinegar
Buns for serving (optional)
How To Make Instant Pot BBQ Pulled Pork
1. Place the pork butt in the bowl of the Instant Pot.
2. Season with BBQ seasoning. (If you time you can add your rub to your cut pork butt and seal it in a bag to let it marinate for 30 minutes to an hour before adding to Instant Pot to allow for maximum flavor.)
3. In a small bowl or large measuring cup, combine the BBQ sauce, beef broth, and vinegar. Stir to mix. Pour the mixture over the top of the meat.
4. Lock lid in place. Set the Instant Pot to pressure cook (high pressure) for 35 minutes. Allow the pressure to release naturally for 15 minutes, then do a quick release. Carefully remove the lid after all the pressure is released.
5. Remove the meat from the pot and shred it. Drain half the liquid from the Instant pot. Place the shredded pork back in the pot and add the remaining BBQ sauce. Stir to combine.
This makes a delicious pork sandwich served on your favorite buns.

Notes
- Pork should shred easily. If the pork is not easy to shred put it back in the Instant Pot and cook for an additional 10 minutes on high pressure.
- I would suggest using pork butt or a pork shoulder for this recipe.
