Ingredients
See printable recipe card below for all ingredients, specific measurements, and complete instructions.
- Ham Steak - You will need a 2 pound fully-cooked ham steak. You could also use leftover ham from the holidays.
- Potatoes - You can use small red potatoes and cut in half or russet potatoes, peeled and cut into 1 to 2-inch pieces.
- Fresh Green Beans - I used fresh green beans but feel free to use frozen if that is all you have on hand.
- Baby Carrots - You can use baby carrots or peel and wash regular carrots and cut in half.
- Vegetable or Chicken broth - I used low sodium chicken broth. But vegetable broth works well in this recipe also.
- Onion - One small diced onion.
- Butter - A little bit of cubed butter adds a lot of flavor to the vegetables.
- Seasonings - Minced garlic, salt and black pepper.

Recipe Tips
- I have found that slow cookers may vary in how they heat. Some tend to cook hotter than others. So please note you may need to adjust cooking time based on the brand and model of your slow cooker.
- If you don't have fresh green beans you can use frozen green beans. I would not use canned beans in this recipe.
- I recommend using low sodium broth since the ham is salty. You can always add extra salt if you feel it needs it at the end of cooking.
- If you prefer you can use sweet potatoes in place of baby potatoes.
- Leftover ham from Christmas or Easter can be used in place of ham steak.
- Use a 6-quart or larger slow cooker.
