Whipped sweet potatoes are so easy to make and we serve them year round. They are not just a Thanksgiving or Christmas side dish at our house.

I can eat sweet potatoes cooked just about anyway. Sweet potato casserole, sweet potato fries, or baked sweet potatoes. They are all good!

Whipped Sweet Potatoes Ingredients

To make these delicious Whipped Sweet Potatoes you will need; brown sugar, butter salt and sweet potatoes.

How To Make Whipped Sweet Potatoes

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Wash the sweet potatoes well and pierce the skin several times with a fork.

Place the sweet potatoes on a rimmed baking sheet lined with foil and bake at 400 for 45-60 minutes, until tender. Please note the actual baking time depends on the side of the sweet potatoes and may vary.

Very carefully peel the skin off the hot sweet potatoes and place the orange flesh of the potatoes into a large mixing bowl; discard the skin.

Whipped Sweet Potatoes Peeled

Add the melted butter and salt; whip the sweet potatoes with an electric mixer until smooth and creamy in texture. Stir in the brown sugar.

Garnish with items of your choice: pats of butter, freshly ground black pepper, brown sugar, or ground cinnamon.

  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp brown sugar
